Why Grayson County?

Home / Why Grayson County?

Grayson County has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years. While much of the boom is the result of Dallas’ northward spread, it’s also fueled by the county’s proactive leadership and business-friendly attitude of its surrounding communities.  Grayson County is very much open for business, as evidenced by the limited restrictions, regulations, and zoning issues.

Grayson county residents enjoy many activities that the surrounding area has to offer: Lake Texoma, beautiful & historic downtown areas, large state park, and local shopping and dining.

The Area

North Texas Regional Airport is located in Grayson County, just 60 miles north of Dallas.  The area is comprised of two major cities, Sherman and Denison, and a number of smaller towns and communities.  The communities provide a workforce for several Fortune 100 and 500 companies including Texas Instruments and Coca-Cola Bottling Company.  Numerous education and training opportunities exist at local universities Grayson College in Denison and Austin College in Sherman.  Additionally, Southeasten Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University are located in the region.

650 miles of the country's most beautiful shoreline, Eisenhower State Park's hike and bike trails,  historic Downtown Denison and Sherman Main Streets are all just a few minutes drive within the county.

Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority

A five-member locally appointed committee was created for the purpose of constructing, maintaining, and operating transportation projects in the Grayson County region. The RMA Chairman is appointed by the Governor of Texas. The GCRMA oversees the activities of North Texas Regional Airport.
